After signing the Memorandum of Understanding between Universal Business School Sydney and Naresuan University through the initiative of Naresuan University International College (NUIC), Mr. Alan Manly, the Chief Executive Officer of the business school visited NUIC to discuss further the specifics of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). The visit took place on December 17, 2019 at 10:00 – 13:00. The administrative team of NUIC together with lecturers from Human Resource Management and International Business Management programs discussed the possibility of exchange students and short courses. The meeting was conducted productively and hopefully to start the collaboration by early 2020.
NUIC warmly welcomed the President of San Sebastian College-Recoletos, Manila, Philippine, Rev. Father Nemesio Tolentin, OAR on November 15, 2019. The NUIC administrative team headed by Dr. Supichaya Meesad, the Director had a meeting on further collaborations on curriculum management, internship collaborations, research and cultural exchange. It is hoped that through this meeting, the partnership between the two institutions will be even stronger.
Naresuan University held the 34th AUAP Annual Conference 2019 on “Climate Change Adaptation – The Challenging Role of Higher Education Institutions” on the 10th – 14th of November 2019 at Ekatodsarot 301. There were a number of participants in this conference including Dr. Supichaya Meesad, the Director of NUIC and NUIC faculty members. This conference offered a chance for academia to brainstorm how to deal with climate change through the University’s expertise from 3 clusters; Health Sciences, Sciences and Technology, and Social Sciences.
NUIC student, Miss Varissanan Pimpakorn, International Business Management (IBM) major joined the Loy Krathong beauty pageant at Loy Krathong Festival 2019 on the 11th of November 2019, organized by the NU Division of Student Affairs. She received the Most Popular Award. A multitude of students and the NU community attended the festival to pay respect to the river, to worship and to ask for forgiveness from the goddess of the river called “Pra Mae KongKa”. This festival is held all over Thailand as it is believed that people can float Krothong with all misfortune and to begin a better coming year.
The Naresuan University International College (NUIC) in collaboration with PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited held the PTTEP English Quiz 2019 in Topland Hotel, Phitsanulok on November 8, 2019. The competition was organized to help enhance the English proficiency of high school students in the lower northern part of Thailand consisting of the following provinces: Phitsanulok, Uttaradit, Kampaengphet, Pichit, Phetchabun, Tak, Utaithani, Nakhonsawan and Sukhothai. The competition was attended by 52 schools from the mentioned provinces. There were a team of two students and a teacher (coach) from each school. The event was presided by Mr. Veerawat Aumsoi (Vice President, S1 Production Operations Department, PTTEP) and Dr. Supichaya Meesad (Director of NUIC). The judges in the competition included: Dr. Eugenia A. Boa (Deputy Director, Research and International Relations), Mr. Christopher Cook and Mr. Ringyaomi Shimray. The quiz masters were Mr. Chon NeVille and Ms. Anna Stepanova, both are NUIC lecturers. PTTEP just like NUIC is committed to operate in a socially responsible manner putting in paramount importance the benefit of its stakeholders. This competition emphasized helping the nation and developing the youth. After competing in four categories (PTTEP, Culture of ASEAN+3, Science, Environment and Technology, and Current Global Issues), 16 teams with highest score are qualified to advance to the semi-final round. The semi-final and final rounds will be held on November 22 and 23, 2019 at NUIC and NBT Phitsanulok Province respectively. The Naresuan University International College (NUIC) joined in the celebration of the 16th anniversary of the Faculty of Public Health on October 29, 2019. The NUIC Director, Dr. Supichaya Meesad presented a bouquet of flowers for wishing the Faculty the best.
The Naresuan University International College (NUIC) initiated a collaboration with Universal Business School Sydney (UBSS), Australia. UBSS is a prestigious private business school in Sydney. NU and UBSS strengthened their partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Areas for exploration between the partners will include students study abroad options, undergraduate dual degree programs, internship opportunities, faculty exchanges, research and professional development and sharing of administrative and professional expertise. NU is positive that through this academic linkage there will be promising and impactful outcomes for the partners. The MOU was officially signed in October 18, 2019.
The Director of the International College, Dr. Supichaya Meesad attended the international colleges’ consortium meeting on October 21, 2019, at 1:30 p.m. The members of the consortium include Naresuan University International College (NUIC), Khon Kaen University International College (KKUIC), Prince of Songkla University International College, Burapha University International College (BUIC), and Prince of Songkla, International Studies, Phuket Campus. The international colleges discussed about the next conference in November 2020 to be organized by KKUIC and signing of Memorandum of Understanding among the colleges to further their collaboration.
The NU International College administrators, Dr. Supichaya Meesad (NUIC Director) and Dr. Eugenia A. Boa (Deputy Director for Research and International Relations) joined the Southeast and South Asia and Taiwan Universities (SATU) Local Chapter Workshop at Mahidol Learning Center, Mahidol University, Salaya Campus on October 18, 2019, 8.30 – 15.30. The event was organized by National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Taiwan in collaboration with Mahidol University, Thailand. In the morning session during the SATU President’s Forum, several interesting papers about aging population were presented and panel discussion ensued. In the afternoon session, roundtable networking took place. It provided a great opportunity for the participants to get to know each other, exchange ideas and develop collaboration opportunities as well. The forum was concluded successfully.
