The Naresuan University International College (NUIC) co-hosted the recently concluded 4th Thailand International College Consortium International Conference (TICCIC) on July 11 – 12, 2019 at the Amari Pattaya Hotel in Chonburi, Thailand. The main co-host for this year was Burapha University International College (BUIC). The consortium of international colleges include Khon Kaen University International College (KKUIC), Prince of Songkla University International College (PSU, Hatyai and Phuket Campuses), NUIC and BUIC. The theme of the conference was “Opportunities and Challenges in a Globalizing Society.” The conference’s main areas included Business Management and Tourism and Hospitality. Several interesting papers were presented during the conference as well as keynote speakers. NUIC was represented by Dr. Eugenia A. Boa, Deputy Director for Research and International Relations. The Head of the Research and Academic Services Section, Ms. Suthawan Marayath also joined the conference and two NUIC lecturers, Ms. Pirakorn Seekhem a Ms. Sopit Jenpradab presented their papers.
The TICC Steering Committee Meeting was held also on the first days comprising of the five members of the consortium. Interesting topics were discussed including other collaborations that are possible between the international colleges in Thailand. Expansion of members, student exchange and quality assurance were among the topics discussed. It was decided upon in the meeting that for 2020, KKUIC will be the main host and PSU (Hatyai & Phuket) and NUIC will be the hosts for the succeeding years (2021 and 2022 respectively). It was a brief yet productive meeting of the committee members.
During the welcome dinner for the participants and researchers, awarding of the best paper and the traditional gift presentations of the members of the consortium took place. In conclusion, the two-day research conference was concluded successfully.
