PTTEP English Quiz Semi-Final and Final Rounds

In an effort of PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP) and Naresuan University International College (NUIC) to enhance the English skills of high school students in the lower northern part of Thailand, through a joint collaboration, the PTTEP English Quiz 2019 was successfully organized. The Semi-finals and Final Rounds were organized on November 22 and 23, 2019 respectively.

The Semi-final Round was organized at NUIC were 16 schools advanced from the Qualifying Round. During this round, the contestants competed on 3 sessions: Essay Writing Competition, Reading Competition and Speech Competition. It was a tough round as all students were prepared for the competition. In this round, Ajarn Chayanee Suechaicharoen was the master of ceremony. The competition lasted from 9:00 to 4:00 NUIC.

Four schools advanced to the final round: Sawananan School (Sukhothai), Nakhonsawan School (Nakhonsawan), Chalermkwanstree School (Phitsanulok) and Naresuan University Demonstration School (Phitsanulok). In this round, students competed on three sessions: Question and Answer (four categories: PTTEP, Science, Environment and Technology, Culture of ASEAN +3 and Current Global Issues); Word Guessing Competition based on the four categories mentioned; and Speech Competition. The competition was held at NBT TV Station, Phitsanulok and the completion was hosted by Khun Noon or popularly called “English Afternoonz.”

The winners and the awards are as follows:

Champion: Naresuan University Demonstration School – 40,000 Baht plus plaque and certificate

First Runner-Up: Sawananan School – 20,000 Baht plus plaque and certificate

Second Runner-Up: Chalermkwanstree School – 16,000 Baht plus plaque and certificate

Third Runner-up: Nakhonsawan School – 12,000 baht plus plaque and certificate
