History of NUIC

Naresuan University International College was established by the resolution of the Naresuan University Council at its 94th meeting (1/2001) on January 13, 2001. It incorporated the Language Center—originally established by the university in 1997 under academic collaboration project with Newcastle University, UK—to become part of NUIC, granting it a status equivalent to a faculty. Prof. Dr. Keith Syers  served as the Acting Director.

However, full operational status began on April 1, 2002, with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Khanchit Thakong appointed as Director. The college welcomed its first cohort of 18 students into the Bachelor of Laws (International Program) in May 2002.

The objective of establishing Naresuan University International College is to serve as a supporting and empowering body for Naresuan University as it strives toward internationalization. NUIC aims to offer international undergraduate programs to both Thai and international students pursuing their studies at the university.

  • Purple: Represents compromise for unity, as well as nobility and elegance derived from courage. (Purple is created by blending blue and red: Blue signifies elegance and nobility, while Red signifies courage.)
  • Gold: Represents prosperity and pride.
